Needle and thread Thursday, a giveaway, and a fabulous house number sign

Hi gals! I KNOW I promised the baby sling tutorial today, but my great niece (little Lulu) is here this week. This is what I’ve been doing in all my free time:

Sorry for the cruddy pic… I had 2 toddlers and baby! Whew! I have finished a couple of projects lately and have one that I want to share. Introducing my new house number sign:

LOVE!

I had been thinking about painting a cool sign until one night THIS idea hit me. I had painted this frame to use for my front door, but all of a sudden I saw it with this monogrammed house number in it! My monogramming machine was in the sewing machine hospital last week (that dropcloth slipcover pushed it over the edge), so I was beside myself until it came home Monday afternoon. I didn’t get around to it until Tuesday, but it was so worth the wait!

I just wrapped the monogrammed drop cloth around a piece of cardboard I cut to fit the frame. I cut some upholstery webbing in half , stapled it to the back , and hung it from a screw. I LOVE how different and “springy” it is. I am in LOVE with the turquoise and red on this porch. How many times have I used LOVE in this post? LOL

I think this design would also make a great pillow. I have some fun “porch pillow” ideas to come.

Next week I WILL be posting the tutorial for the baby sling. I PROMISE. I will also be featuring a fun skirt set I just made for the girls. This is my favorite go to skirt pattern, and the girls love it. Wait until you see the fabric! I’m going to show you how I embellished the top too! FUN FUN FUN! Beginning sewers DO NOT be afraid of this pattern. It’s really simple to make, and I’ll give you all my tips. Trust me. EASY!

Now for the giveaways! (These can be mailed anywhere in the USA)

To get everyone ready for next week my friend Terri from Fairytale Frocks and Lollipops is giving this Sew Sensible pattern to one of my readers. It’s a twirl skort and perfect for little girls who like to run, jump, hang upside down, AND twirl. :)

Adorable Loulou! I see your great niece is enjoying your creations, too! Great idea to do the house number. I have a frame with a fabric piece already to be used for something. It was supposed to have a vinyl monogram on the glass {a gift} and I broke the glass. So now I have a frame and a fabric covered back. I've been trying to think what I could do with it; maybe stencil right on the fabric - thinking, thinking. : )
